EquiMotion

Body Awareness and Experiential Riding Lessons
3 Part Series
Each EquiMotion mini-clinic focuses on one aspect of body awareness as Nancy leads you through a Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement® lesson prepared by guild certified Feldenkrais® instructor, Robert Spencer, especially for riders.  Next, we take it to the saddle to explore new awarenesses and how they relate to an improved connection with the horses we ride.

Format: Each one-day clinic can be presented individually (1 day) or grouped together over a period of 2 – 3 consecutive days. This clinic series is an excellent complement to Connected Riding® methods and activities.

1. Cozy Up To Your Sit Bones
Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement® lesson: SIT BONES, The Dynamics of Neutral. Whether you are new to Connected Riding® or an old hand at it, this workshop will enhance your relationship with Neutral Pelvis. The concept of neutral posture is the only posture in which a rider can function to his or her fullest ability and influence a horse to do the same.

2. Turning, And Oh So Much More
Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement® lesson: ROTATION, Turning Made Easy. In this lesson you will gain greater separation between your upper and lower body and learn how to communicate your intention of turning to your horse in one easy movement. In Connected Riding®, rotation helps a horse to find balance and stability. It supports him through bending, straightening, and releasing tension in his body. Rotation also keeps the rider from blocking the horse’s movement with weight shifts and helps release tension. Rotation is key in lateral work.

3. Here, There and Everywhere
Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement® lesson: PELVIC CLOCK, The Power Is In The Pelvis. The ability to truly follow the motion of your horse through any action or performance challenge is the key to safe and effective riding from casual trail rides to the performance arena, including such dynamics as sitting the trot, keeping your seat in the saddle at the canter, going up and down hills, negotiating drop fences or banks, reining movements such as sliding stop or roll back, and/or staying with the quick movements of a cutting horse or a horse that spooks.

High Touch® Jin Shin for Horses

Format: Online Introduction followed by a
2-Day, hands-on workshop

Three weeks prior to meeting for a two-day, hands-on workshop, participants will enroll in an online class that presents background information and theories relevant to the concepts that will be covered in the workshop. This format allows for more in depth study of concepts and theories and it permits the workshop to move quickly to practical applications.

High Touch® Jin Shin for Horses Level One:
Level One provides an introduction to the ancient healing art of Jin Shin and its applications to work with horses. Level One focuses on the history and teachings of Jin Shin, the differences between the Eastern and Western approaches to health management, the concept of Qi (chee) as it flows through the body, an introduction to reading pulses, and the consciousness of the energy release points that relate to mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of well-being.

High Touch® Jin Shin for Horses Level Two:
Level Two delves deeper into the practice of this ancient healing art with a more in depth look at the way the body speaks to us through pulses, an introduction to the Five Element Theory and work with energy flows that address physical aspects of well-being. Feeling the energy as it flows through depths to identify and clear energy blocks and organ flows are the focus of the practice in Level Two.

Release Your Horse's Back
Workshop

Be proactive by learning to effectively release tension in your horse’s body. Two PowerPoint presentations and plenty of hands-on practice comprise this 2-day clinic that examines the importance of working horses in good posture and provides participants with the skills to help horses release their bodies. The first presentation discusses the need to maintain your horse’s body with regular bodywork, while a second presentation focuses on seeing horses with a more educated eye. During the hands-on learning sessions, participants will learn an effective, user-friendly bodywork routine developed by Sid Erickson, DVM.
